The Cause of Sleep Apnea

Your sleep apnea may be the result of an obstruction in the airway caused by narrow dental arches and or an underdeveloped jaw.

Sleep apnea treatment depends on the severity of the condition. There are several solutions which Dr. Mark Musso and the team at Airway Dynamics might recommend.

During your initial consultation, we’ll perform a number of tests. If you suffer from mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea, our dentist may recommend an oral appliance. Using advanced scanning technology, your doctor will take precise measurements to ensure a proper fit for your oral appliance. Our oral appliances work to treat obstructive sleep apnea by fitting over your teeth and keeping your airway open while you sleep. It works by preventing the tongue from blocking the airway and by holding your jaw in a position that prevents airway blockages during sleep.

Treatment with Airway Dynamics

Your treatment will start with a thorough and complete diagnosis of your condition by Dr. Mark Musso, as well as our team, which includes ENTs and myofunctional therapists.

After your consultation Dr. Mark will design a custom biomimetic medical sleep device. Most patients wear these devices for an average of 12 to 24 months, primarily in the evening and at night while sleeping.

Most patients see an improvement within the first few days or weeks of starting treatment. During treatment, periodic adjustments to your appliance are made by the team here at Airway Dynamics. We work in close collaboration with medical sleep specialists, ENTs, myofunctional therapists, and your personal medical doctor.

Upon completion of treatment, many patients do not require further intervention!

Initial Consultation:

  • Preliminary health questionnaire and screening
  • Head and neck examination
  • CBCT scan
  • Intraoral photos and measurements
  • In-home sleep test

Comprehensive Diagnosis

We work with our multidisciplinary health care team to formulate a complete and accurate diagnosis. Once you have completed the diagnostic portion of treatment and the required tests and scans, Dr. Mark Musso will compile your Airway Intelligence Report. This report shows a complete airway assessment and evaluation, airway measurements, treatment goals, and treatment plan, as well as walking you through the many different payment options for your treatment.

Life During Treatment

Most treatment plans include lots of healthy sleep and good nutrition for a period of between 12 and 24 months. You are unique and your custom treatment plan will be tailored to fit you and YOUR needs.

While in treatment, sleep comfortably and enjoy a good night’s rest! FINALLY! So many of our patients enjoy newfound energy and find themselves eating healthier, resulting in fewer visits with your healthcare team.

Life After Treatment

Once your treatment is complete, you will be ready to take on the world and enjoy a vibrant, healthy life. In most cases, there will be no need for further intervention. You’ll now be breathing well, sleeping well, and living well!
